Nanba.. Master is a very rare attempt on post-modern cinema with a STAR like Vijay... The Duality kind of theme you mentioned is too old for this story.. It would make it too predictable.. City of God, Kadal, Thani Oruvan & so on.. We have got many in that List. Agreed , certain basics must have been followed.. May be Lokesh wanted to try a new spin in the yarn.. Might be his 1st.. Still worth the spin. JD's Character & conflict could have had a JOKER effect - (JD had a sense of Nihilism in him as well) So, I felt if we had followed Vijay Sethupathi (The anti-hero ) & if we saw Vijay (Hero) interrupting his plans.. That would be more than Enough for this Story... Lokesh coud have delivered the Allegory/message of the story like QT. I was also disappointed with Master. But the kind of attempt lokesh made is commendable. It was Style over Substance.. There are few layers which I request you to notice.. The Parallels between JD & Bhavani (Right from the Scars, Colours to the use of their Fist) The Environment that defines JD ( The Cat that represents his Facade, His house & fake backstories his Nihilist nature) & many.. Haven't seen such efforts in a Mass Masala Film (Kamal films & Vikram vedha are an exception here ) . So lets not put it down. Lastly, "Enaku pidichavan velila Kodi per irukaan da" will go down in history as the Best Punch delivered by a Star to his Fans.. (Especially while watching in theatre)

Master is not like usual face off movies, you have to change your perspective and look the story in bhavani point of view. Story line up is based on bhavani and he has strong motive. and conflict arise when JD comes into his life . thats how master story evolves not based up on heroes
